Sea Vee Models
As
a ship collector myself I sometimes take photos of my
own models as well. At Kassel
I picked up my first couple of Sea
Vee Models. Though Sea Vee has their own site I couldn't
resist putting some photos up myself. If these inspire
you to seek out some Sea Vees for your own collection
visit the Sea Vee site. They only sell direct- not through
dealers.
First
up is the Italian corvette Cassiopea, a modern Italian
warship.
SeaVee
also produces a number of Royal Fleet Auxiliary ships.
Landing ships Sir Tristam was damaged by bombing during
the Falklands War in 1982 and rebuilt to this new configuration.
An
odd looking ship is the repair ship Diligence with her
helo deck mounted forward above the bridge.
SeaVee's
third main series are of US warships and support vessels.
Here is Mt. Whitney, the command ship for the Atlantic
Fleet.
Sea
Vee also produces limited edition models. The following
two ships are limited release Sea Vees where the production
run has been completed and the models are sold out. That
means you can't get them so don't pester Sea Vee for them!
They are excellent models and even if you can no longer
purchase them they are wonderful to look at.
We start
with the US Navy fleet oiler Savannah. Savannah was a 39,000
ton ship built in 1970 that served on active duty until
1995.
We conclude
with another special edition, the Kidd class destroyer USS
Chandler. One of four destroyers originally built for Iran,
she would have been the Iranian ship Andushirvan. With the
Iranian Revolution she was taken into the US Navy, serving
from 1982 until 1999. She displaced approximately 9,500
tons.
You
can see more Sea
Vee models at their web site or by visiting the gallery
at the 1250
Scale Home Page.
