RHE 174B Pallas
New 1/1250 scale model of the French submarine Pallas by Rhenania (RHE 174B).
Pallas was one of the six Minerve class submarines. The class were improved 630 Series designs with more power and better armament. The class had six internal 550 mm torpedo tubes (four in the bow and two in the stern) and three 400 mm tubes mounted externally on a moveable triple mount.
Pallas was built by Chantiers et Ateliers Normand, Le Havre. She was laid down October 19, 1936, launched August 25, 1938 and commissioned June 12, 1939.
She was one of four boats of the class that remained under Vichy control after the fall of France. She was in French North Africa when Operation Torch commenced and was scuttled off Oran on November 9, 1942. She was later salvaged by the Allies in early 1943, but not put back into commission, and was eventually struck in 1944.
