RJ 292C Charlotta B
New 1/1250 scale model of the Sietas Type 178 feeder container ship Charlotta B by Rhenania Junior (RJ 292C).
The Type 178 was the successor to Type 168 in the feeder trade and is a further development of Type 171, of which Sietas had only built one copy for the Canadian shipping company Oceanex in 2005. It is known as Baltic Max Feeder (also known as Ostseeemax). The development of the vessels aimed at the largest feedwater type that can be used economically in the Baltic Sea. The North-Baltic Sea Canal allows a maximum permitted draft of 9.30 meters. In addition, three out of four of the open box-shaped container loaders of the open-top container ship are equipped with variable storage facilities and flexible cellguides. All loader compartments are equipped for the transport of dangerous goods containers. The tank cover is reinforced for the stowage of heavy cargo. In addition, the vessel is equipped for the transport of overloaded and transversal containers of the most common special dimensions.
The series is powered by a MAN B & W 8L58 / 64 diesel engine , which acts on a variable displacement propeller. The loading and unloading maneuvers are supported by a bow thruster with 900 kW and a stern thruster with 750 kW power.
The ice-reinforced hulls were assembled in sectional construction.
