WDS K LIZ 0120 Springbank
New 1/1250 scale model of the British anti-aircraft auxiliary Springbank by WDS (WDS K LIZ 0120) as in 1941.
Completed in May 1926 as motor merchant Springbank. In November 1939 requisitioned and converted to the auxiliary anti-aircraft vessel HMS Springbank and commissioned on November 25, 1940. The armament consisted of four twin 4in gun turrets and two 2pdr Quadruple (Pom Pom) guns. In March 1941 she was converted to a fighter catapult ship of the Pegasus-class, a predecessor of the CAM-ships and carried a Fulmar fighter on a cordite powered catapult amidships. Sunk by torpedoes from U-201 September 27, 1941 while protecting Convoy HG-73 bound for Gibraltar from Liverpool.
