ALK 081A Bristol D23 2016
New 1/1250 scale waterline model of the British destroyer HMS Bristol D23 by Albatros (ALK 081A) in her role as a training ship in Portsmouth in 2016.
HMS Bristol was paid off in 1991 and refitted to replace HMS Kent as the training ship located at the shore establishment HMS Excellent. Bristol is permanently berthed at Whale Island, Portsmouth and is primarily used as a training ship and accommodation ship for Royal Naval personnel and youth organisations.
Bristol was refitted at A&P Tyne, Hebburn in late 2010/early 2011. The effects of the refit were said to "...extend the service life of HMS Bristol for 10 years". Work was intended to bring facilities on Bristol in line with health and safety standards.
